Leah Tarleton, founder and editor-in-chief

It's the movie that made me want to start a magazine! I watched it so much growing up it embedded itself in my DNA.

Why we exist

Founded by one, grown by many

“As a kid I watched 13 Going on 30 and dreamed of being an editor-in-chief, like Jenna. The Nourished Sensitive started much smaller than that dream, and it has grown alongside my own healing and self-discovery as a highly sensitive, AuDHD founder.”

The Nourished Sensitive is built on the premise that sensitivity is fertile ground for possibility and healing.

By reframing sensitivity as a sanctuary and source of power, I help you see and feel yourself in a new light and relate to the world by honoring your own unique energy and needs.

This redefinition is not just about feeling better but about empowering a community of sensitive individuals to use their innate abilities and gifts to enrich their lives and contribute to the world around them in meaningful ways.

Today it's an expression of authenticity, belonging, creativity, and purpose, and it's no longer one person's project. Writers, facilitators, and readers are building it together, season by season.

Go from surviving to flourishing & thriving.

As a deep processor, thoughtful decision-maker, and highly empathic individual, your natural gifts can powerfully and positively impact the world around you. Mind-body dysregulations that negatively affect your health and wellness are often caused by feeling:

  • Held Back
  • Misunderstood
  • Out of Place
  • Unsupported

Our editorial framework

The 9 Elements of Nourishment

Every issue, column, and Circle we publish is organized around nine elements across three areas: Mind (Emotional Health, Self-Empowerment, Value Alignment), Body (Holistic Nutrition, Physical Fitness, Digestive Health), and Spirit (Embodiment, Optimal Living, Spiritual Growth).

Mind Elements

Emotional Health

Learning to regulate big feelings and heal from old hurts, bringing every emotion into the light with honesty and grace, so your emotional life supports your well-being instead of draining it.

Read the Element →

Self-Empowerment

Deepening self-knowledge, confidence, and self-trust, rooted in knowing you are wonderfully made, with stories and practices that build resilience from the inside out.

Read the Element →

Value Alignment

Naming the values and convictions you live by, and gently stretching your comfort zone toward a life where what you do reflects what you treasure most.

Read the Element →

Body Elements

Holistic Nutrition

Finding a peaceful relationship with food and body, so you can nourish yourself without restriction and grow in food freedom, with mindful eating and food rituals received with gratitude.

Read the Element →

Physical Fitness

Movement for function and joy rather than appearance, caring for your body as a temple in ways that build self-worth and suit a sensitive nervous system.

Read the Element →

Digestive Health

The brain-gut connection and why it matters for sensitive people, from mindful, restful rhythms and gut-friendly food to the wider ecosystem we share and caring stewardship of the food it gives us.

Read the Element →

Spirit Elements

Embodiment

Rooting into your body, learning to work with your nervous system instead of against it, and coming home to yourself.

Read the Element →

Optimal Living

Creating a life that feels good and true to you: staying connected to life and its seasons, and living your dreams into reality as you keep becoming.

Read the Element →

Spiritual Growth

Growing in connection with God, as you understand God, and the sacred through prayer, stillness, reflection, and intuition, cultivating love, peace, and purpose while honoring each reader's own path.

About the editor

Hello, kindred spirit.

We're led by Leah — a Registered Dietitian, a late-diagnosed AuDHD highly sensitive person, and the founder of The Nourished Sensitive. We started this magazine because we needed the community we couldn't find: a place where sensitivity is a gift to structure your life around, not a flaw to manage.
